A trip to Wales and Chester

I thought I just HAD to share some of the photos with you that I took during the most magical holiday of my life – with my sweetheart/fiancé Ian, to Wales and Chester! Ian was born in Chester, and he’s half Welsh, so he was able to show me some of the most beautiful places in that lovely part of the world…

Day 1

We set out from Euston Station, London, on a two-hour train journey through the English countryside right into Wales – Llandudno Junction, where a hired car was waiting for us. We drove up to the island of Anglesey, Ynys Mon in Welsh; the ancient island of the Celtic druids, full of historical sites, sheep and pubs!

We’d booked a room in a little inn in Benllech, called ‘Breeze Hill’ – and we really got the best room in the house, with a wonderful sea view!

As soon as we’d made ourselves comfortable, we went out to explore the town. And wasn’t it JUST like I’d always imagined a Welsh village? Pretty little houses, a sandy beach, and a pub with a big beer garden and fantastic food.

We spent the evening in the hotel bar; a cosy, wonderfully old-fashioned place, JUST the right thing for a romantic break! The people were most welcoming – and some of them actually spoke Welsh! Croeso y Cymru – welcome to Wales!

I’m an author of romantic fiction, born in Germany and living in Holyhead in lovely Wales. I've worked as a journalist, as social hostess on a cruise ship, as an insurance agent, as a translator and teacher, and now as a book indexer. I love books, movies, computer games, history - and most of all spending time with my wonderful husband Ian!
